Face substitution; endless possibilities for marketing use? Interesting technology and certainly an area to watch.

This is a technical demo for face substitution technique. The application works in real time and it’s developed using the open source framework for creative coding.

TaskRabbit - Design your life with fun things todo.

Text ©EverydayCharlie

Did you ever wonder if you could pay somebody to do the boring, dirty, obnoxious or just dull chores you have been pushing around on your todo list? Well Leah Busque turned that thought into a thriving website: TaskRabbit.

In the past you had to hire a P.A. or have your mommy pick up your dry-cleaning, groceries or take your dog to the vet.

But these days you can find somebody that likes to do it for you at this website. And if the job needs a little more professionalism than standing in the queue for the newest Apple gadget, you can find self-employed photographer for your kid’s birthday party or a slamming home chef who will cook your third date dinner (including a matching kitchen mess).

This way you can enjoy your free time and don’t bother people around you with your wishes you cant succeed. It’s just a little step further on designing our normal daily life.

I just wonder how long the website will exist in it current form. Normally an employer has to pay taxes and the employee has to be protected with health insurance. This way those easily avoided and I don’t think a government will be too happy about that.

Do you get fed up with the same subjects or people on tv? Can you just not understand why people want to listen to Paris Hilton talking about her latest dying or freshly replaced dog or can you miss the sound of politicians campaigning for a chair in the Oval Office?

Matt Richardson created a system that detects what’s currently playing and then mute the TV for 30 seconds depending on the current topic. The tech part doesn’t really interests me but I think its shows that we want to block a certain part of the overload on information that’s hitting our senses everyday. We still want to be provided with information and be entertained without putting to much effort into it so instead of searching what we like, we just block what we don’t like.

Escape Your Computer - but don’t get too far

Text ©EverydayCharlie

What it is: You can use Kisai’s Escape C  for VoIP applications such as Skype™, AIM®, Windows Live™ Messenger, iChat® and other popular instant messaging applications. Pair Escape C with a PC or Mac and have the freedom to move around while talking. It’s also a watch that shows how late it is by minuscule LEDs.

Why it’s hot: First off all the design is quiet nice. Perfectly round with protrusions equally placed opposite at each other for the in/out-put jack and finished in matte black with contrasting blue LEDs. For a Blue tooth hearing aid that’s a nice design. Thereby it’s very handy and make you able to Skype in public instead off everybody listening in.

Forgot the heat? - There’s an App for that

Text ©EverydayCharlie

Photo’s: Can2Go

What it is: EnOcean designs self-powering sensors who can now communicate wireless in home and with your smartphone. Just by clicking these switches there’s enough energy made to signal the lamp or heating to go on or off. So you don’t need to rip off the plasterboard to install switches. And to make it even more easy: you can turn on the heat before you get home because, there is an App for that build by Can2Go.

Why it’s cool: Well it makes life more comfortable. And that’s just what Apps & Technology have to do in life. The options are vigorously big for the share an care off you parents, for offices or just to make sure that you didn’t leave any lights on when you are on holiday. The technique isn’t new (This guy made Domotica in to a lifestyle in 2006) or special just the combination off techniques is new at it self. The combining Domotica and the simple App makes this a new way to control your home.
